Moving Gears
We just got back from Texas on the 16th of January. The long flight back was very trying, but mommy-to-be (MTB hereon) seemed to be in better shape than dad-in-training getting back. Now that we are back, we are trying to inform ourselves about the baby and everything else that goes with it. MTB has just stumbled across this title – What to expect when you are expecting, by Heidi Murkoff, Arlene Eisenberg & Sandee Hathaway. Needless to say, we just had to have a copy. After some searching we finally got our hands on one online. In the interim a loaner copy from the local library will have to do. We have so many questions – Are hot showers (as MTB is used to taking) bad for the baby? Should we be eating seafood at all? Should we be sleeping on one side? Guess, we have between now and August to figure that out.
On a separate note, googling about imminent fatherhood has led to the discovery of a rather interestingly titled journal article, in the American Journal of Psychiatry, no less. The July, 1966, issue carries an article written by William H. Wainwright… “Fatherhood as a Precipitant of Mental Illness.”
